Civics and History Education

We believe our schools are not adequately preparing us for the duties of citizenship.  We’re advocates for better curricula to help our kids learn their place in America’s unique history.  We also want a return to civic education so they can thoughtfully participate in our tradition of self-governance.

Honest and Patriotic History

American history can both be honest and patriotic.  Let’s focus our kids on a curriculum that emphasizes the following:

  • The struggle of the pilgrims to worship as they pleased

  • The root causes of the American Revolution

  • The foundations of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution.

  • The causes of the Civil War

  • The failures of Reconstruction

  • The age of invention and innovation

  • America as a liberator in the 20th Centurey

Civics.

We cqn be better citizens.  Better citizenship leads to better communities and better shared experiences.  Learning civics will create better citizens.

  • Powers granted to the federal government under the U.S. Constitution

  • The Bill of Rights

  • Differences between state and federal constitutions

  • How a bill becomes law

  • The powers and limits of the judiciary

  • Limits on the President and Governors

  • The reach of administrative agencies

  • The rold of local government, including city, township, school board and county government

Learning History and Civics will #unifythisnation
